Public knowledge

Malak, a Loremaster of House Treny, is the only publicly known child of Sir Anlok Treny, a minor noble of the house, and Lady Melara Treny, formerly of House Ferency. There are rumors that Malak has an older half brother on his fathers side, a powerful sorcerer… this claim is based on the mysterious appearance of a man who claimed knowledge of Malak's past and his fathers actions, however this rumor has yet to be conclusively proven. The marriage of the two nobles was purely a political union although not without touches of romance here and there. Due to his mother's poor health, another child has been severely warned against.

Malak was enrolled in the tower as a promising student and, while older than most, he worked hard to earn their respect as well as the respect of his teachers. He earned the right to a familiar following high marks in his studies and summoned an owl named Ninox. While his learning and early studies are completed, Malak continues to research and study. Shortly after his 28th birthday, he was promoted to the title of Master and he is began formally teaching classes at the Ivory Tower, specifically the fundamentals of Spellcraft.

It was while assisting a friend that Malak was killed by a blast of fire that burned out his heart and half of his chest in a single blast. He was re-incarnated, Aex and the Spirits of nature seeing fit to restore him to humanity, yet Malak's appearance was drastically changed. From being a dark haired individual with red eyes, Malak's hair became white with more angular features and green hair, his body now that of a younger man at age 20, and as such, he has taken to celebrating his second chance at life, though he still feels the weight of the years upon him.

Along with his ever-present companion Ninox the owl, Malak now owns a large dog, Betsheba, who has grown to be quite fond of her master… and is more than willing to be a riding point for Ninox. Malak's handling of Bethsheeba has improved over the years, and the trio are a common sight, save for when Malak must travel swiftly, then Bethsheeba is left at the Coastal Tower or the Treny Estate.

Malak's long term plan of having a tower built has started to come to fruition, with the first stage now completed. The Costal Tower, as Malak has taken to calling it, was crowned with the marriage to his wife, Aleksara Atianna - now Aleksara Atianna-Treny shortly after which, he vanished without a trace. He could not be scryed on, and he was presumed dead by all but Aleksara. His return one year later has caught many by surprise, including Malak who discovered his unborn child to Aleksara was now a five month old healthy girl named River. Now, under the watchful gaze of his cohort Kasula Neridove, and the more possessive gaze of his wife, Malak resumes his life in Duirt.

Appearance

Malak dresses in light coloured robes of shades of blue that are comfortably lined with the hood up all the time. He is accompanied by two armsmen in house Treny colours at all times and the signet ring of his house is always on his gloved right hand. On his head, over his short, well kept white hair is a golden circlet of woven golden metal, three sapphires sit in the centre, two smaller flanking a larger stone. The true colour of his eyes cannot be seen as they glow a rich, unnatural shade of blue, hiding the true color of the iris and making the pupil seem white. His face is lean and there is a gentle smile in both face and eyes - unless he is involved with a magical problem. Then his expression is extremely focused.

Tower Description

(when completed)

The upper level of the tower has 3 bedrooms for guests/apprentices the room for Malak’s cohort and Malak’s personal chambers. In the regular bedrooms there is a desk, a chest, a bench and a nightstand with a candle.

Malak’s Suite has a wardrobe, bookshelf, a table to seat six and a balcony exit. The pilings for the Balcony rest on the lower level

The Fancy Bath is shared by the upstairs guests, the bath is curtained for privacy. The table has a highly polished steel mirror and the fireplace keeps the room warm in winter as well as heating the water. The privy has a stone pipe to shuttle waste into a closed pit.

The area between the guest rooms is closet space.

The tower is constructed of stone for the exterior and uses wood paneling for the interior.

The main entrance of the tower has the crest of House Treny inlaid into the floor. To the right is an open area, leading to a simple common room. The walls are fairly bare at this time, with plain, wooden floors and only a few simple tapestries line the walls. The windows are fixed and cannot be opened, the fireplace is enough to keep the room warm during the colder months.

Facing away from the entrance, the corridor has three sets of double doors – two on the left and a single set of ornately carved doors on the right. The first set of doors on the left leads to the dining hall. Two chandeliers provide light as do the two sealed windows on the far wall. With braziers, the heat from the kitchen and the warmth from the common room, the dining hall is usually pleasantly warm year round. It is able to seat twenty four guests and an additional six on a raised dais. The Kitchen connects to the dining room through double doors. With plenty of preparation areas and the fireplace also large enough to cook a spit roast, the kitchen can easily feed the tower when at capacity.

A single door on the far wall of the kitchen leads outside to the servant’s quarters. The construction of these buildings is of wood, rather than stone. Each building has twelve personal rooms, two sets of six – each with a bed and a personal chest with a shuttered window. At the far end of each set of six is a chair, desk and steel mirror. Each building has two outside privies and a simple bath that is accessed from inside the building. More will be built as and when needed.

The double doors to the library have been lovingly crafted and are well weathered. The prize jewel of the tower, the Library contains many books on Arcane and historical knowledge as well as scattered books on other treatises as well. A large rug, embroidered with the Treny Family Crest is in the middle of the room, in front of the large fireplace. Books and tomes line the shelves and there are comfortable chairs for those wishing to study. Movable ladders allow people to each the higher shelves easily. The fireplace is lit in the evenings and light is provided by the windows on the far wall.

A single door leads to Malak’s personal study, the door is locked when the Master in not in the tower. The room is kept warm by a simple fireplace, the furnishings are simple. Books and scrolls line the shelves. In the corner, a door leads to the laboratory.

The Laboratory can only be accessed through Malak’s study via conventional means. The central table is stained from the bixing of different chemicals, the three shelves on the walks have various notes and treaties of different magic and the store cupboard contains different chemicals. The storage room doubles as a cool room, as well as housing various items needed by the tower
